Reformed Education Support Worker (RESW)

Johan is married to Evelyn, and they have three children: Ada, Pheobe, and Matthew. Johan is an experienced Grade 6 teacher at Rockingham John Calvin School. Evelyn grew up in Papua New Guinea (PNG). They both support covenant education and want to help improve PNG schools for local churches. They are members of the FRC of Comet Bay.

Johan will work full-time for six years with a four-month break between each three-year term. His work with Reformed Ministries in PNG will focus on four main goals:

  1. Collaborate with government officials to ensure schools meet the National Education Act.

  2. Support teachers and school boards to achieve administrative self-sufficiency.

  3. Organize professional development opportunities for local teachers.

  4. Develop an appropriate curriculum that covers Church History, Reformed Doctrine, PNG history, and sets benchmarks for Math and Language for each grade, while also ensuring effective use of the My Fathers World curriculum.

Johan's funding will come from two sources:

  1. Support from the Southern River, Toronto, and New Zealand Mission Boards for flights, visas, relocation, PNG orientation, furlough, and repatriation costs.

  2. Personal fundraising for everyday living expenses.

Mission Aid plans to fundraise for Southern River Mission Board’s share, estimated at $21,500 per year. To support the Vanden Dolders in this important work, we ask for your prayers and annual pledges over the next seven years.
