Who are we.

Our mission.

Goal.

Welcome to the Mission Aid, Papua New Guinea North-East (MAPNG-NE) committee, established by the Armadale Mission Board. We are dedicated to bolstering mission efforts led by the Free Reformed Church of Southern River (our current sending church) alongside our Cooperating and Supporting churches, for the advancement of mission work in North-East Papua New Guinea.

History.

In the early 1970s, a mission aid committee was established as an extension of Mezos, Netherlands. By 1980, it gained independence and became Mission Aid (metro). Its primary objective was to extend financial support for endeavors such as medical and educational projects to mission organizations affiliated with the Free Reformed Church of Armadale, which was the sole metro church at the time, as well as sister churches both in Australia and abroad.

As the federation of the Free Reformed Churches of Australia expanded over the years, Mission Aid became involved in various mission committees, boards, and churches, including mission efforts in North-East Papua New Guinea. However, it became apparent that the organization was stretched thin and unable to adequately serve the diverse projects across different mission fields. Therefore, a decision was made to conclude operations, effective June 30, 2018.

Following the dissolution of the previous Mission Aid organization, the Mission Aid (Armadale) committee was established in 2019. Following this, Southern River took over as the sending church in 2021. Thus, Mission Aid (Southern River) was formed. Its core mission is to support the mission endeavors led by the Free Reformed Church of Armadale, acting as the Sending Church, in collaboration with Cooperating and Supporting Churches, specifically focused on mission work in North Eastern Papua New Guinea.

Responsibility.

The MAPNG-NE committee maintains a close collaboration with the Southern River Mission Board, ensuring that every project receiving financial assistance is thoroughly endorsed and rigorously assessed in the field. This process guarantees alignment with the mission's vision and purpose. The committee's foremost aim is to promote projects that are not only financially sustainable but also deeply rooted in the local community, recognizing the challenges posed by poverty.

Identification of projects may originate from the Mission Board, the Committee, or mission personnel. In instances of new project identification, a comprehensive analysis and report are meticulously prepared. This report encompasses financial estimates, project timelines, specific details, and anticipated outcomes and benefits, all essential for evaluating the viability of project support.

Following project endorsement, the Committee employs various communication channels like the Metro District Bulletin, the website, social media, and other promotional materials to mobilize the necessary funds. Additionally, the Committee may coordinate events to raise awareness, generate funds, and disseminate information to existing and potential donors. Churches and youth groups may also initiate fundraising efforts to contribute to these diverse projects.

At the conclusion of each fiscal year, the Committee engages an independent auditor. This auditor thoroughly reviews the financial records of the preceding year and furnishes a detailed report of their findings within two months after the fiscal year's end to the committee.
