Living Water Christian School

When Living Water Christian School opened its doors in 2013, there was only a single preschool class with a handful of students. Taught by two ‘mamas’ who were passionate to see more students grow and learn in the context of our Reformed faith, the School has grown to accommodate a second pre-primary class, as well as Grade 1 & 2.

Now there are more than 120 students, with 4 teachers and an education assistant. While the added enrolments have helped make the budget more financially sustainable, the lack of suitable classrooms is a large burden on staff & students.

Currently the school is operating out of the church grounds of Living Water Reformed Church (LWRC). The school facilities include a single purpose-built classroom underneath the pastor’s house, the church building, a dedicated teacher office and resource room, and an ablution block containing 2 showers and 2 flush toilets.

In 2015 the Armadale Mission Board purchased a 1.1-hectare portion of land adjacent to the church for the future development of the school and other mission related activities. Provided funding is secured for the project, the School hopes to erect a removable classroom structure for use during the interim period, while a land title is obtained.

Reformed Resources

One of the ways that the work of mission in PNG is supported is through the publication and distribution of Reformed reading and audio/visual material .

Over the past 6 years, our national pastors and mission team have been producing the Tulait magazine. The magazine focuses on certain issues that are pertinent to the culture of PNG, and attempts to explore these issues from a Christian worldview that is supported by Scripture. Some of the past magazines have focused on: marriage, sorcery and witchcraft, male headship, and rampant false doctrine.

The magazines are usually distributed in the marketplaces after a public ‘sermon’ has been preached to the crowd. They are sold for K1 to encourage people to value them and read them, however the cost to print them ranges from K4-7 per magazine. They are also printed on a glossy paper stock to ensure their durability and protection against the elements.

During a recent preaching trip to the highlands of PNG, the mission team ‘sold’ over 600 magazines at 7 different marketplaces. Many people are very impressed by the content of the magazine, and with the various church details on the back of the magazine, our national pastors often get contacted by various people who have heard the messages and read the magazine.

In order to support the printing of these magazines, the youth of the various supporting and cooperating churches have been asked to engage in fundraising within their own church communities. With their contributions we usually print about 5,000 magazine for each new print run.
